Good Habits Make Successful People

There’s no argument there. The secret sauce to success is one that lies within you. Prosperous businessmen and professionals swear by their daily norms and practices. 

Every little thing you do creates a domino effect on other parts of your life. It was not long ago that I realized myself that without healthy habits to take care of my mind, body & soul, life feels like nothing but an aimless journey. 

These are some of the habits I’ve tried to develop over the last few weeks to help build my path towards achieving my goals:

  1. Manage Your Energy

It’s unbelievable how much negative energy we absorb on a daily basis. At times, we don’t even realize it. I like to cleanse my mind by practicing mindfulness on a daily basis. Whether you enjoy the sounds of hums or attend yoga classes, let your thoughts flow in and then let it all go. Take deep breaths during stressful situations. Spirituality and mindfulness align you with your goals in ways you cannot describe. Steer clear of the noise and work on your voice.

2. Health & Fitness First 

Go beast mode at the gym, court or pool. Just sweat. Working out requires strength, resilience, and consistency. Not only is it great practice for your work life, but there’s a mountain of research supporting the fact that exercising reduces the symptoms of anxiety and stress. Additionally, be mindful of what you allow into your body. Your body is your temple. Look after it. 

3. Step Out Of That Comfort Zone

“I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy, I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it”. This is by far my favorite quote. Bear in mind that if the next steps of life look scary, you’re doing the right thing. Life is not about being confined to a place & time, but rather to take every challenge and push your own boundaries. Have a growth mindset and you’re halfway there. 

4. Passion Is Nothing Without Discipline

I’ve always believed that they come hand in hand. If you have true passion, you have willpower. If you have the willpower, you have the discipline to stay consistent, persistent and patient - qualities that successful people like Oprah, Lori Greiner and Jack Ma have. Want to be like them? Don’t make excuses. Prioritise. Deliver on your promises to yourself and others. 

5. Good Thoughts Are Everything

If your body is your temple, your mind is the inner voice that supervises it. Be the boss of your thoughts. Cultivate a mindset of appreciation and incorporate this into every little thing you do. Use your own positive thoughts to inspire you. Be optimistic and kind to yourself. Your attitude determines your abilities. Remind yourself that someone else’s negativity does not have to ruin your day, your ideas and your future. 


Good habits allow you to create your own platform to be successful. With that being said, I’d like to emphasize that I haven’t mastered all 5 of the habits mentioned above. It’s never easy but remember that there’s no need for a radical change in lifestyle and thinking. Embody your favorite positive habits slowly & incrementally and one fine morning, you’ll find yourself waking up to a new beginning...
