So, what is Good Girl Conditioning?

It’s probably good to start with unpicking what I’m talking about. It is the training that women and girls go through from birth. It’s the socialisation process through which girls are taught to be obedient and submissive and to put others' needs before their own.?

Girls are praised for being quiet, compliant, and polite. We’re taught to seek validation and approval from others, especially men and others in positions of authority, and to avoid conflict or confrontation.?

Good girl conditioning reinforces gender roles and stereotypes and can have a life-long impact on our sense of self-worth and agency. It can also make it difficult for women to assert themselves and pursue their own goals and desires.

What does this look like?

  • People pleasing
  • Perfectionism
  • Self-sacrifice
  • Exhaustion and burnout
  • Emotional suppression
  • Poor mental health
  • Feelings of self-doubt and imposter syndrome
  • Feelings of being watched and judged
  • Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
  • And many, many other issues...

Remember, you have the power to break free from the confines of Good Girl Conditioning and embrace your authentic self.

Meet me!?

If you don’t know me, my name is Michelle Minnikin . Army brat turned Organisational Psychologist, coach and total rebel. I've worked hard to defy expectations and break free from the confines of my Good Girl Conditioning.

I’m writing a book to help women deprogramme themselves from their ‘good girl conditioning’ and start their own rebellions to build a world that works for everyone.

I'm here to empower women to start their own mutinies, jettison their Good Girl Conditioning, and build a world that works for everyone.
