The Good Food Fight: Ending child hunger together

Every day, millions of people wonder where their next meal will come from. More than 34 million people – including 9 million children – experience food insecurity in the United States, meaning they do not have consistent, reliable access to enough food for an active, healthy life.??

Hunger exists in nearly every town and community in the country. Lack of access to fresh produce, protein, dairy, and other nutritious food takes different forms, ranging from scarcity of availability in food deserts to prohibitive cost. For many people and families, experiencing food insecurity comes on the heels of other major life events – too many of us are simply one unfortunate incident or unanticipated expense away from skipping a meal to stay afloat.

Looking at Chobani’s own communities, over 10% of the children in Twin Falls County and 12% of children in Chenango County experience food insecurity each year.?

As a company dedicated to making nutritious, natural food available for more people, the idea that anyone – especially children - ends their day without nourishment is unacceptable. We believe access to good food should be a right for everyone, not a privilege for some.??

In our continued fight to eradicate child hunger, we are proud to commit support to 9 organizations across the U.S. addressing food insecurity in the communities where we live and operate. These partnerships will build upon long-held community relationships and establish new initiatives to address need at the local level.?

From the beginning, giving back has been at the core of who we are at Chobani, and we have an obligation to make sure the children and families in the communities where we operate have what they need to thrive. We also know that eradicating child hunger, while a solvable problem, is a monumental task. That’s why we are partnering with organizations that are already on the ground and active across these communities to help ease the burden of inadequate food access. They know what their communities need, and working with them on targeted, specific action is a fantastic way to create lasting impact.??

As you take a look at the great work being done by each of our partners, consider how you can join us in the Good Food Fight. Whether it’s volunteering at your local food bank, donating fresh produce, or combating the stigma associated with food insecurity - we can end child hunger if we work together.??

Community Cupboard (Edmeston, NY): Community Cupboard operates a food pantry that serves about 12,500 people each year. Chobani will be covering operational expenses as part of this expanded partnership, allowing the organization to have someone on staff dedicated to the needs of the community. Chobani employees will also volunteer throughout the year, packing food boxes for local families.??

Every Meal (Minneapolis, MN): Every Meal fights child hunger by filling the gap when children don’t have access to school meal programs on weekends, extended breaks and during the summer. We’ll be partnering with them to provide culturally relevant food to 45 students and their families at a local elementary school. Our employees will further support the community through distribution and packing events.??

Helping Hands (Norwich, NY): Helping Hands addresses ongoing need in the community with a drive-thru event that provides participants with food and household supplies each month. Chobani will sponsor the purchase of healthy, nutritious products like eggs, milk and produce to be distributed, increasing availability of nutritious options that can be prohibitively expensive. Our employees will also assist with the drive-thru distribution event and hand out Chobani products to the community each month.?

Minnie’s Food Pantry (Plano, TX): Minnie's Food Pantry shares our mission of increasing food access for kids while they’re in school. We’ll be sponsoring a snack pack program for a local school, ensuring 875 students receive a fresh snack during the day.?

Mustard Seed Ministries (Twin Falls, ID): Mustard Seed’s food pantry serves approximately 600 families each month and their community outreach provides food, clothing and assistance with living expenses for people in need.
