GOOD DAY TO BE A LISTING
It’s safe to say that the second Monday of January is the unofficial return to work day for most of Brisbane. For keen buyers however, it seemed class was already back in session the weekend prior!
The torrential, relentless downpour on Saturday couldn’t dampen their enthusiasm; we had countless buyers in and out of our open homes. In fact, we haven’t had this volume of people crossing the threshold of our open homes in months! If my spidey senses are correct, purchasing property seems to be amongst many 2025 goals and resolutions.
We’re biased, but what can we say - our properties do make a great addition to any vision board. In fact, 148/53 Vernon Terrace looks straight out of Pinterest, with its restrained, minimalistic interiors and scandi inspired accents.
So what factors are influencing this renewed enthusiasm for buying?
Notably, the low number of properties on the market - agents as well as sellers are only just trickling back into the city after the holidays, and while they prepare to launch their upcoming listings, those already advertised simply enjoy a greater amount of attention!
Then, there’s the promise of interest rates dropping in the second half of the year, though February rate cuts may be wishful thinking, even though inflation has slowed. Doing the maths to check the affordability of repayments in the event of a significant interest rate rise has been put on the backburner. Instead, buyers keen to get in the door of a property that they can comfortably afford, taking comfort in knowing they may even save a couple hundred dollars in interest repayments by the end of the year!
Finally, inner-city Brisbane’s appeal continues to increase as time goes on. At the end of last year, the opening of the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge transformed the commute of countless locals and added an enjoyable pedestrian connection for the city’s residents.
From the last week of January, the Brisbane Metro services will be introduced, promising the largest uplift to the bus network in over a decade! Connecting RWBH on the city’s northern fringe to UQ Lakes on the opposite side of town, the new routes and services included in the New Bus Network are set to increase connectivity and reduce travel time, in particular during peak periods. Coupled with the fares remaining at 50 cents, this news will be music to the residents trekking across the city for work or leisure daily!

One could of course argue that when you live in Teneriffe, a good pair of walking shoes is all you need, though from October until April, access to public transport is very welcome if you choose to leave your car at home! 504/109 Commercial Road is just a short walk (straight past Danny’s Bread, if your new years resolutions don’t include a cleaner diet) to the CityGlider and CityCat terminal. With a Woolies Metro on the ground level, life could not be any more convenient.
What about 302/88 Macquarie Street, you wonder? This oversized one bedroom apartment in the Dakota Woolstore has a bus stop just out the front - perfect if you’re heading into the city on a rainy day like the weekend just gone. If you’ve got a bit more time and the weather is on your side, the ferry terminal is only just a short stroll along the tree-lined street!
One postcode over, 504/8 Masters Street does not disappoint when it comes to location - positioned between Gasworks Plaza, the James Street Precinct, ducking next door to Salt Coffee Roasters or Niky Wine Bar has never been easier!
Alongside running business as usual, we’ve been hard at work preparing our annual report. It’s a beast and we take great pride in creating a visually appealing and informative document you’ll want to hang onto for a while. From ideation to creation, it’s a real team effort (including interrupting my sister’s maternity leave to proof read it cover to cover, several times). I am so excited to share our 2025 Woolstore Report with you very soon.
