We all want good clients, but what does “good” mean?
Defining good for yourself and making a Good Clients Checklist will help you make better decisions about who to work with or not.
Before I explain three traits of good clients, ones that we all want, I’ll tell you about two clients I was pleased to never work with again and how they helped me learn my own preferences.
Have you taken the time to list out your preferences?
Do you have strong systems for earning, managing, and keeping money?
Sometimes, I think freelancers and solopreneurs are allergic to money.
Or, it's probably more fair to say that we don't have strong systems for earning, managing, and keeping it.
Would you like to see my systems?
I partnered with Lettuce to teach a free workshop where I'm going to share 3 I've never shared before. They're simple enough that anyone can use them, and robust enough for those of you making multiple six figures.
The workshop is happening on Wednesday, November 20, from 12:00-1:00pm ET. It be especially helpful for freelancers and consultants based in the U.S.

About Austin L. Church
Hi, I'm Austin L. Church, a writer, marketing consultant, and business coach.
I started freelancing in 2009 after finishing my M.A. in Literature and getting laid off from a marketing agency. Freelancing led to a portfolio of mobile apps, tech startup, children's book, branding studio, and consulting practice.
Over the last 15 years, I've made north of $1.8 million as a creative entrepreneur, and looking back, I see so many missed opportunities.
That's why I'm so passionate about stacking up specific advantages and teaching freelancers, consultants, and creators how to do the same.
I want more of us to find our income-lifestyle sweet spot.

Every WRITER is a snowflake. What suits some of us is toxic to others. We all need to make sure we've defined "good" to our own satisfaction!

1 周Austin, this is such a killer point. Spotting those tricky client patterns early? Total game-changer. And you’re so right—having financial stability is what lets us say no to the wrong partnerships and focus on the right ones. That Good Client Checklist idea is genius. It’s exactly what freelancers need to protect their sanity and their success over the long haul.

1 周This made laugh, Austin L. Church, because it reminded me of a client who had a blunt communication style that threw me off. Defining what "good" means is key. It helps us work with those who share our values.
