GOOD BOSSES, WHY THEY ARE GOOD FOR BUSINESS

Good bosses are good for business because they empower and motivate people without putting them down or being rude to them. Good bosses create a working environment and an atmosphere in which people can be as happy and creative as they can be. People who work in such an environment are happy to get up in the morning and look forward to going to work and be with their coworkers. Here are a few traits of really good bosses.

·        Good bosses have reasonable expectations and don’t ask for the impossible.

·        They are honest and have great integrity.

·        They are able to motivate others consistently.

·        They inspire others to give the best of themselves.

·        They encourage creativity and allow others to think outside the box.

·        They are willing to listen and to empathize with others.

·        They are ready to give honest and consistent feedback.

·        They are willing to admit when they are wrong.

·        They congratulate employees for their good work and for their progress.

·        They reward their employees in many different ways. Not just with raises and promotions, but in ways that make them feel emotionally rewarded and truly appreciated. Good bosses do this fairly regularly, and not only when they want something in return.

·        Good bosses are not pushy and they don’t put too much pressure on others.

GOOD BOSSES LEAD BY THE POWER OF EXAMPLE

There is no better way to lead than by the power of example. Good bosses set a good example for others; what they say reflects how they act. They are honest and have great integrity. They have realistic expectations and they know how to set limits. They trust their instincts and their intuition and they encourage others to do the same. Good bosses are team players and show others how to respect each other and to be good team players as well. They expect cooperation from others and are willing to cooperate rather than to be aloof. They are also able to set healthy boundaries and clearly established limits.

GOOD BOSSES ARE HIGHLY COMPETENT, ORGANIZED, AND EFFICIENT.

They are familiar with the domains in which their employees are working. They are ready to delegate tasks and they trust their employees. They are courageous, capable of making hard decisions and they assume responsibility for those decisions. They treat their employees with the respect they deserve, and they listen to what they have to say. They value their employees and their expertise and are ready to congratulate them, motivate them, support them and reward them accordingly.

GOOD BOSSES INSPIRE OTHERS TO GIVE THE BEST OF THEMSELVES

Good bosses are continually trying to improve themselves. They are willing to learn from every source that can be helpful, including learning from their employees. They are ready and willing to share what they know and what they have learned with others. They give freely of themselves whenever that is possible and they are willing to receive from others. Good bosses have reasonable expectations and don’t ask for the impossible. They don’t expect from others more than they expect from themselves.

GOOD BOSSES ENCOURAGE CREATIVITY AND ORIGINALITY

They allow others to think outside the box. Good bosses know that we all have the capacity to be creative. They know that we don’t have to be exceptionally talented in order to be creative. They also know that most people’s potential is practically unlimited. Therefore they allow others to express their creativity freely, and they accept the risks involved in doing so. As a result, companies that are led by good bosses tend to be more innovative, more productive, more successful and they keep outperforming the competition.
