Organization works in a very mysterious way.?And on no account should we ever toy with it. It is a state of mind. It is also a state. We know the definition of State in Political science.

Organizational behavior is a unique course of study that is often overlook by many start up companies and even some of the existing business in our country.

People do ask what does behavior got to do with the way I carry out my job. Employee do raise voice that why should I greet my co-workers? Is greeting compulsory? Is it not to work? Some people in an organization dress the way they feel like and they don’t seem to see if anything is actually wrong with that. Do your work and don’t greet. Frown your face and move on. Eat in any location on the office.

Organizational Behavior set the tone of things. From the way we dress. The way we should address this person and that person. Should we smoke in the office? Should we spoke with tagging our company ID in public? How to conduct ourselves in and out of the office. Corporate behaviors are highly required in our workplace. The office is different from the street.

Startup company need to scrutinize potential candidates Resume. They should also ensure The Human Resource Department work on people before engaging them. When employee got hired engaging them time to time is very important. People need to be encouraged to be at good behavior at all times.

Every Unit and their team from Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Sales, Distribution to IT should behave in a manner that support the company. The Human Resource Department should or must lead by example. Every word should be filter. No one should insult the other person. No employee should be discriminate on the ground of sex, gender, race, nationalities, color of skin and so on.

Good behavior on the part of your staff would put you on the best lime light. If your Customer Service Unit have essential skills needed to work from manners to courtesy, there would be client retention. When your sales people are friendly, common there would be revenue. When you people in marketing that dress well, knows how to greet, endure ill behavior, proactive in what they do…your company overall goals and objective would be intact. You would have a solid brand. Good behavior starts from within. What you do to staff is what you would do to client.

Body Language: The unspoken word that damage morale in many organizations. The era Covid-19 has made body language to be difficult to read. Employee are mandated to wear and put on face mask. But still, we can still detect bad behavior act from this. Employee should be educated on the importance of voicing out issue that surround their work and that are likely jeopardize their own efforts. When employee keep issue to themselves, they would tend to retaliate when it is not called for.

Leaders should give everyone equal access and address issue before it escalated. So many employees are being denied to have Candor in their various workplace. If they share their thought-on LinkedIn or WhatsApp status, it becomes an issue as their line manager or colleagues are monitoring their social life. Employees have been asked to leave companies without being given fair listening or hearing. What company do not know is that some of these employees form or constitute your customer base. Treat people well.

Organizational Behavior is a preacher of good things in our work space. It teaches us how to love our team mates. Its also educate us on how to forgive by letting go. It teaches us the win/win for office life. It is through Organizational Behavior that I learn how to cope with office drama and politics. If you need to address issue on sexual harassment meet OB. The Human Resources job is incomplete without it. Should we manage from the head or we should manage from the heart? OB would answer that.

Many of the internal crisis companies are facing started with ill or bad behavior that Executives overlooked. They went unnoticed and they become daily routine. The way company A behave in Lagos is the same way they behave in Gabon. It has become a deep-rooted behavior.

Emotional Intelligence: Regardless of how difficult the situation is. There should be a channel of reporting. I have seen people fighting in an office. Exchanging verbal abuse. Insulting the other person via email. You can build your reputation in 6 years and damage it in 2 minutes. Once a brand is tarnished, it would be difficult to revitalize it. So, breath and let go. Learn to tolerate people and overlook their bad side.

Professional’s work and mind their business. When they have valuable things to share in the workplace, they share it accordingly. Professionalism saves time of being found wanting of bad behavior. Conflict, anger and hatred doesn’t befit the system and culture. A system that has much hatred would be toxic. When it is toxic morale would be damaged and productivity impacted negatively.

Employees working in Start up company be in FinTech , Remote work , healthcare , banks , hospitals , telecommunication , schools , universities , transport, airline , logistic , engineering , construction , freelance , oil and gas , and so on . Should have good behaviors whether it is needed directly or indirectly on their job or not. Do not look down on your staff, do not insult your team, greet your manager and the manager should in turn return greeting with word of mouth and not signs or cues. You know company life is just like a movie. The world is turning. You can meet your colleague where you do not expect some day. And the life of the organization is longer than man itself. Who is older than the state? “The tree wither …the leaves stay” MTN Nigeria slogan says “Leave good behind…be better” Let us better the life of people in our organization instead of treating them badly. The world is like a ball. Even the customers are watching you. Do not think they don’t know how you treated their relatives that has work for you before leaving.
