Comprising nearly 30 cays, surrounded by the Tongue of The Ocean, The Berry Islands present a mosaic of untouched beauty. All the ‘berries’ are as sweet as can be with something unique to encounter as you move along the chain. The island remains irresistible to all those who visit, especially for those with a profound love for boating, fishing and wildlife. It is also referred to as the ‘fishbowl of The Bahamas’ due to its abundant marine life. Sport fishing has remained thrilling and a rewarding experience in the island’s rich waters. If you’re traveling from Miami the flight time is approximately 30-40 minutes into Great Harbour Cay Airport with charter flights available, as well as a landing strip on the private island of Chub Cay.
GREAT HARBOUR CAY
At 7.5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide, Great Harbour Cay is the largest island in the chain. The largest settlement is called Bullocks Harbour, the capital of the Berry Islands. For commercial and private flights, Great Harbour Cay Airport is where planes land. It also has the largest port. Here you will discover paradisiacal beaches, historical sites, and a championship golf course at Sugar Beach Resort & Golf Club. If you enjoy long walks on the beach you will also discover an entire stretch of beach, like the famous Sugar Beach on the east coast. With numerous sandy coves tucked amid cliffs, the landscape evokes the charm of renowned Mediterranean beaches, perfect for shelling.?
CHUB CAY
Situated at the southernmost point of The Berry Islands, this exclusive private island paradise caters to the desires of yachting, sport fishermen and divers alike. The surrounding waters abound with a diverse array of marine life, including dolphin, wahoo, marlin, tuna, grouper, sailfish and bonefish. Chub Cay boasts the most expansive stretches of pristine, untouched beaches and provides astounding luxury resort facilities such as beachfront cabanas, villas, a fully equipped marina, restaurants and bars. If you want to stay even longer, there are residential properties for sale.
