Golf swing mechanics 3
The third swing characteristics we will have a look at is Loss of Posture
Characteristics - Very common amongst the occasional golfer, we have all seen the YouTube videos of someone having ten goes to hit he ball. During the swing phase the set up up of the golfer is lost. The result is a loss of spine angle or altered angles leads to loss of timing balance or rhythm. They typical direction of the ball, is normally a block hit to the right(right handed player).
Causes - pelvic posture is lost during downswing because of limitations in hip range of motion or the inability to do a full overhead squat. Upper and lower body movement dissociation does not happen through rotation. Weak core muscles and glute muscles which in turn leads to decreased spinal and hip control. Lack of shoulder mobility.
Corrections - perform deep squats, rotational abdominal exercises and upper/lower body, glute dissociation exercises
