Golf in the Sma’ Glen!!
Last week I achieved one of my long-held golfing ambitions which was to play at the wonderful Foulford Inn course in the Sma' Glen not far from Crieff. I had passed the course many times and not taken the trouble to stop for a game.
The course was designed in the 1980s in a collaboration between John Stark the legendary golf pro at Crieff, John Freeman who was one of Perthshire’s top golfers and the then head greenkeeper Sandy Brown.?The course is without doubt one of the best 'wee' golf courses in Scotland being a par 3 course with holes ranging from 86 to 130 yards.?And huge credit must go to owner Brian Beaumont as the course was as well maintained as many bigger courses with a team of green keepers!
There are very few courses in the country set amid such spectacular scenery.?If you are looking for a wonderful and rewarding golf experience Foulford is so well worth a visit. Whether you are a Scottish golfer looking for a totally different experience or a visitor from overseas I can't recommend this brilliant course enough.
Took me a while to get there but this certainly will not be my last game at the wonderful Foulford Inn.
