The equation for a #Li_ion #Batteries #thermal_runaway events & #Fires handling is clear but needs more awareness:
[ White smoke + you can open the door (car, house,....) or in an open area = Apply the GOLDEN RULE: GETAWAY as FAST & FAR as you can ]
Awareness spread
....of how to act in a correct manner with a li-ion battery fire is Essential for our #safe electrified future. The aim is not to get afraid of using such good storage technology, rather to understand what a li-ion battery is, how much energy it has, how aggressive it is in case of fire, and to be aware of how to handle it right in both operations and fire cases..!

Most important 3 Facts to take into high consideration
Using the electrical motor-bikes li-ion battery fire cases, as an example of clarifying the facts and rules
Fact 1: The biggest problem is not the fire, it is what looks like SMOKE but it is NOT......!
It is not as the common white smoke which you are used to seeing on top of a campfire! it has some nasty chemicals inside it......
Li-ion battery thermal runaway event smoke is Toxic and Flammable, so you can expect the fire to be ignited many times not only once...!
Fact 2: Thermal Run Away happens while the battery is in use or NOT also...!
Fact 3: Normal way of fire distinguishing won't work....there are special materials and ways for that.....!

The Top 10 highly important Rules
Rule 1: If you feel that your battery is not acting normally, or is getting hot STOP using it immediately.
Rule 2: If the smoke is white... No, it is not as you think it is not a good sign
Rule 3: If you start to see white smoke | apply the golden rule [as described in the beginning].
Rule 4: If you see black smoke | apply the golden rule but you can run a bit slower!
Rule 5: Please don't try to firefight the fire yourself once you see the smoke.
Rule 6: Don't stand in the wind blowing direction, avoid smiling the smoke
Rule 7: Approach the battery only after the multi-fir ends and the smoke as well
Rule 8: If you will use water, you have to use a HUGE amount of it at once otherwise you are making things worth it.
Rule 9: There are special materials to be used for li-ion firefighting
Rule 10: It takes more than "Connecting li-ion cells together and wrapping them in plastic with some electronics" to build a low-risk li-ion battery.
Many manufacturers will try to take over the business wave, pushing the production prices down which will end up in =?producing #explosives rather than low-risk safe li-ion batteries>....!
But in the end, pushing the prices down is needed, but must be balanced with the critical aspects as Saftey, and not losing social trust in the technology as it did happen over technology development history many times…..
