Recruitment need not be complicated. The more simple we make it, the better the results. For everyone.
In my experience, a fundamental reason for why candidates sometimes don't do as well as they deserve in the hiring process, is because they don't feel fully confident in what's expected from them, or what employers are looking for.
I drum on about this to anyone that'll listen, but too many of us have turned recruitment into a feared & tiresome process, where we work against each other more than with. We're too keen to trip people & businesses up, because we think we'll see the better candidates or businesses that survive the fall.
But as a result, we drive more more negative results than we should. More candidates not getting good or any feedback. Less quality applications which increases time to hire & impacts the output of the business and the morale of our teams.
This isn't how this is meant to be! We should be working together.
I'm not saying that every interview must result in a hire and not all candidates will receive amazing feedback seamlessly, but this... this can be done better.
And everyone can benefit.
We're all working towards something. Be that a better career, more money, better work/life balance, increased learning, heck, maybe all of these.
And no-one does this alone. For every person needing a new role, someone else has to help them find it. For every employer looking to hire, someone needs to apply.
Candidates need employers. Employers need candidates.
So, let's cut out the bland and transactional. We can make this a positive experience for everyone.
ALL job & career seekers deserve to apply & interview for jobs with confidence. Reflective of who they are, their experience, skills & aspirations AND what the employer needs.
I'm prepared to stick my neck oot and break this down to make it easier to people to get to where they want in their careers and help employers make the hires they need.
Ahead of you lies some ???????????? ???????????for being a candidate in the recruitment process to hopefully make it clear, simple, helpful and positive for everyone trying to make something happen in their career. And hopefully help employers hire the folk they need.
Broken down into three stages, first up, we're looking at the step by step of ?????????????? ?????????? ???? ??????????, which you'll see in the image. 6 steps. That's it. That's all it takes to get ready to apply for a job.

Thought-provoking steps, yes, maybe. But steps, every single person is capable of taking. Each will reach different destinations from these steps. But everyone has the ability to make those 6 steps. 6, personal to you, emotion led, steps. That's all.
Career-Seekers. This is for you.
Nothing good comes from just throwing in a hurriedly put together CV in and hoping for the best.
You can apply for jobs at the click of a button, but only if you put in the work & prep in advance.
Get this, you can have a bad day at work and think "sod it, I'm going to apply for a new role" On a whim. You can. But that only works if you've put in the prep before.
Every application needs care and consideration, for you and your potential next employer. No matter where you are at in the process mentally.
Every career based decision starts with you and your emotions. By establishing what you want to do & why you want to do it, you're on your way to candidate freedom!
So please. For the good of you, the people close to you, your future employer & colleagues and for the people that reap the benefits of the output you are providing, please focus on you and what's important to you, first.
That's always where to start and ultimately, it's the beginning of what employers need to see.
Here's your whack!
Keep the process simple. Make it enjoyable. Be positive in your outlook. Fantasise about what you stand to gain. Break it down, take your time, don't try to do it all at once. Make it manageable, realistic, authentic and honest.
You and other people will thank you, if you do.
Next, we'll set the must do's for Applying for jobs. Bet you canna wait!
