Golden Compass School instils values-based learning, ensures long-term student success

Charity may portray softness and delicateness in an organisation, but when used as a motivation to constantly excel and prepare people to be passionate contributors to society, charity becomes a powerful driver for long-term success and meaningful community connections. At @Golden Compass School, charity envelops its values of courage, openness, meticulousness, passion, amiability, steadfastness and spontaneity, so education never stops and opportunities for holistic teaching and learning abound.

Golden Compass School works with a pool of seasoned academics and educators. Its board consists of veteran principals of primary and secondary schools and industry players with doctorates and master’s education degrees. Through its diploma and certificate programmes in the tourism, business and retail fields, exchange programmes with partners in mainland China and Britain, and academic and English enhancement courses, it seeks to become a world-class educational institute that helps learners realise their full potential.

“Even when the Covid-19 pandemic hit and during the lockdown, we were still conducting courses,” says Claire Chng, managing director of Golden Compass Education Group. “We were quick to innovate and shift into online classes. When we believe in something, we persevere to carry on.”

Golden Compass School accompanies its quality education with a solid student support system. Providing one-on-one coaching sessions, its career development department guides students in mapping their strengths, skills and interests to appropriate career choices. The school is expanding in the region, including China and the Philippines, as it forms more collaborations with local and regional players within the hospitality space.

“We believe education is a contribution back to society. Since our foundation in 2010, we have adopted a charity programme which also forms our corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm. We run a multi-event CSR activity every year, featuring an art festival, charity dinner, enterprise forum and awarding ceremony, to encourage students to volunteer and live out the values we teach them. Values are the compass for life and we provide students with a venue to discover how they can live a good and productive life,” Chng says.

?

“We are never content where we are. We are always exploring new opportunities and seeking new partnerships. We believe in continuous improvement and education.”
