Going where I am needed!
When I canceled my Hug and High5 Festival due to weather last weekend, it wasn’t in my plans to go up to Nantucket this weekend but I rethought things after reading that someone there spray painted “Niggers Leave” on an African American Meeting House that dates back to 1827.
N--- leave? Clearly whoever defaced this landmark is 200 years too late.
This is an appalling and racist attempt to intimidate and it goes without saying that no one is going anywhere.
It also goes without saying that this is just another symptom of the hate and anger that is gripping and ripping this nation right now with a steady newsfeed of beatings, shootings, bombings mayhem.
That's why - with the help of Advantage Rental Car - I am going to Nantucket to bring some healing and support to the community as well as the meeting house and its role in racial equality and understanding.
I am just one guy hugging America one tragedy, one town and one person at a time and there is a lot to do.
That is why on March 23, the first Friday of the new spring season, I will be just a few miles from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School doing what I can to infuse that community with an embrace’s warmth at 4 Rivers Smokehouse- 2660 North University Drive Coral Springs, FL.
Many may be thinking, “What are you hoping to accomplish, Dave?” and my answer is simple.
I just hope to help.
Details to follow- but know that any/all support is welcomed so please encourage any individuals-businesses you may know in these areas to reach out.
