Going Sober At 23 Saved My Life & My Business.
Last week was a very significant week in my life.
Firstly it was my 6 and a half year anniversary of sobriety. This equates to 2,375 days since I last drank.
These anniversaries for me have almost become like second birthdays, a day which I am able to reflect on as well as celebrate all the great things that have happened since.
This year, my half anniversary coincided with a documentary I was grateful to be able to film about Sobriety and the impact it can have on an individual's life.
A little bit of a “behind the scenes” / “how did this happened” around summer last year I was contacted by Alan Toner - who is responsible for Lime Pictures digital work. Lime are the production company behind the critically acclaimed TV series Hollyoaks.
Alan had followed my story and appreciated how open I was around sobriety on my social media platforms. He asked if I wanted to participate in the filming for the Hollyoaks In Real Life series.
I am not the demographic who watches Hollyoaks, this for me was something I weighed over in my head a number of times. I personally didn’t feel like my story wouldn’t be right and that it wouldn’t necessarily resonate with the audiences.
I took a step back, considered all the angles and decided that any platform willing to facilitate the conversation around sobriety is someone I am really happy to align myself with.
In the documentary I talked about the impact Alcohol had on my life, my partners life and my time at The Social Chain AG alongside my relationship with Steven Bartlett .
6 and a half years into this journey, I continue to be blessed with warm messages from people saying that I have inspired them and in some way help them make a change in their life.

Alcohol continues to be a drug which hugely damages those who consume it and their loves on. Leading to major mental and physical health challenges in people lives. I am proud to be able to see and impact in my own life from reducing the amount I’ve drunk and feel overwhelmed to hear that this journey has helped others.
I am super anxious about filming and hearing my own voice back so watching this documentary for me was a challenge.
I hope you enjoy it.
