Going Slow Can Maximize Your Success | Catherine Mattiske
The Power of Going Slow
In a world that is always moving faster and faster, it can be hard to slow down. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle and forget the importance of taking things slow. We're constantly being bombarded with messages telling us that we need to go faster, do more, and be more productive.
We are constantly inundated with social media, work pressures, friends, family and colleagues telling us that we need to do more, be more, and achieve more. This can be exhausting, and it can also be counterproductive.
But what if the key to success is actually going slow??And, how does it unlock your Inner Genius?
Instead of trying to do everything at once, sometimes the best thing you can do is slow down. When you take the time to focus on one task and give it your full attention, you may be surprised by how much more successful you become.
The Benefits of Going Slow
There are a number of benefits to slowing down and taking your time. For one thing, it allows you to focus more intently on the task at hand. When you are rushed, it is easy to make mistakes. But when you take your time and pay attention to detail, you are much more likely to produce quality work. Additionally, taking your time can help reduce stress and anxiety. When we feel like we have to hurry, our bodies release stress hormones like cortisol. This can lead to feelings of anxiety and overwhelm. But when we take our time, we give our bodies a chance to relax and rejuvenate.
There are many more benefits to going slow, especially when it comes to business, and especially at the beginning of a new venture or project. When you take the time to slow down and focus on quality over quantity, you're able to achieve much better results in the long run. Here are just a few benefits of going slow:
1. You're able to focus more on quality.
2. You have more time to plan and strategize.
3. You eliminate errors and mistakes.
4. You build better relationships.
5. You reduce stress and anxiety.
Of course, there are times when speed is of the essence. But in general, going slow at the beginning can help maximize your success in both your professional and personal life in the end. So next time you're feeling rushed, see if you can slow down and savor the moment instead. You may find that it makes all the difference in the world.
How Will Going Slow Get You into My Genius Zone?
When we rush through our lives, going from one thing to the next without stopping to fully experience the present moment, we miss out on so many of life's greatest treasures. Whether it's catching up with an old friend, taking a beautiful hike through nature, or simply spending time at home with your loved ones, moving slowly gives us the space and time we need to learn, connect, communicate, influence, and savor all that life has to offer.
?By slowing down and tuning in to what is going on around us in each given moment, we learn to pay attention to details that were once overlooked. We become more sensitive and attuned to our surroundings and the people around us. This helps us deepen our connections with others and enhances our ability to learn and grow as individuals. And by being more mindful of how we interact with others, we can learn how to wield greater influence in our daily lives.
All of these benefits stem from one simple act: going slow. So whenever you have the opportunity to savor each precious moment as it unfolds before you, take it! You'll be glad that you did when you find yourself in your own unique Genius Zone.

How To Combat The Pressure From Others Who Are Speedsters!
When starting a new project or task, it is important to go slow at the beginning in order to set the right foundations. This will allow you to learn, connect with, and communicate effectively with all of the individuals involved, as well as influence their perspectives and contributions. By taking things slowly at first and building strong relationships, you are more likely to achieve your goals and create a productive working environment. Whether it is designing a new software system or launching a marketing campaign, starting out with an intentional approach yields the best results in the long run.
So, if you want to be successful in your next endeavor, take the time to go slow at the beginning so that you can lay good foundations for lasting success. Here are a few tips if you are feeling pressure from others when you know the right way of going is to slow down in the beginning so that you can speed up at the end…
1.?Acknowledge Your Feelings
The first step to combating the pressure you may feel from others who are speedsters is to acknowledge your feelings. It is perfectly normal to feel a sense of competition or pressure when someone else is moving faster than you are. However, it is important to remember that everyone moves at their own pace and that there is no need to compare yourself to others.
2.?Talk to Someone You Trust
If you are feeling overwhelmed by the pressure you are feeling, it may be helpful to talk to someone you trust about your experiences. This could be a friend, family member, manager, or anyone else who you feel comfortable talking to. Talking about your feelings can help you to better understand them and may also help to reduce the pressure you are feeling.
3.?Identify Your Triggers
Another helpful step is to identify what triggers the pressure you feel from others who are speedsters. This could be certain situations, people, or even specific words or phrases that trigger your competitive nature. Once you have identified your triggers, you can begin to work on avoiding or managing them in order to reduce the pressure you feel.
Conclusion:
In today's fast-paced world, it can be tempting to try to do everything at once. But sometimes the best way to maximize your success is to slow down and take your time.
Going slow can have a number of different benefits, ranging from increased productivity and creativity to improved communication and connection. 2 年There's something called the Slow Food movement and when it hit the scene, I thought, "What's this?" Now, years later I still chew my food more slowly. The same thing with aerobic training. Olympic athletes do "aerobic conditioning" by running at a slower heart rate for six weeks out of the year. When they return the new pathways in their lungs empower them to go faster. Again, going slower to go faster. I love thinking about this in terms of business.

2 年Thanks Catherine! I wholeheartedly agree that it's so important to give ourselves more space to think and focus so that we can be more effective in both work and life. For me 'going slow' often means simply taking a few moments to pause, breathe, look around and think (sense check/ focus on what's most important) and then off I go again. It really can and does make all the difference in the world! Love the 3 tips to combat pressure - adding those to my toolbag, thanks!

2 年Going slow or fast is not what’s important. It whether or not you know where you are going, and why. Mainly WHY.
