The Hyde team attended ShopTalk 2023, held in Las Vegas (March 26-29th). Amidst 15+ sessions, 45 meetings (with brands, retailers and investors), and over 16 miles of “walking the floor” - our team has compiled our critical takeaways.
There were 5 themes foundational to the conference and top of mind for executives:
1. Engaging Shoppers:?Developing a best in class shopper engagement, leveraging the concepts of contextual search for and product discovery, social commerce, and 3rd party data.
2. Channel strategy:?There is no secret that digital media spend is eating into bottom lines, and CAC has been a sore point especially for DTC brands. Emphasis on being ahead of the evolution of E-Commerce, B2B, Marketplaces, Web3 and even retail-media partnerships cropped up constantly.
3. Reimagining the physical store:?In a post-covid retail environment, a unified experience that links stores to online has yet to find its place. The conference explored store operations and design, and experience of the front line workers.
4. Tech investments that boost revenue and profitability:?Profit, not just top-line! This environment begs pragmatic investments. Most agree that now is an incredible time for innovation, savings and improving customer experience - but where, was the critical question.
5. Organization changes that would help retailers win:?A deep dive into the processes and barriers to lead and inspire teams.
