Going Out on a Limb: Entering the Spiritual World

It’s time to once again reinvent myself.? When I was approaching retirement nearly six years ago, I explored the world of acting and modeling.? I learned a lot and had fun, doing print work, commercials, and some short films.? However, most work is located in LA, and as you would all probably agree, the 2+ hour commute each way in addition to an 8-10 hour shoot is a drag.?

So now what?? Years ago…in my twenties… I developed an interest in metaphysical phenomena.? ?I had a genuine out-of-body experience, which freaked me out at the time, so I read about it and explored some, but didn’t have time to do a deep dive—plus it was a bit scary to me.? I put it on the backburner and instead focused on developing and marketing my professional consulting/coaching practice in the “real world.”? Every now and then, I’d take a course for fun from The Monroe Institute, but never really committed to truly studying and honing skills until last fall.

Last November I went to a week-long retreat on mediumship—a program where one learns to connect with departed loved ones in the spirit world.? The objective is to bring forth healing and/or empowering messages for those who remain in the physical world.? While I have been serving others effectively for over 40 years as a compensation consultant and executive coach, it’s now time, as Shirley McLain said, to “go out on a limb” and get past any concerns of being labeled as “a woo woo nut case.” Currently, I’m essentially retired and have the luxury to serve differently by pursuing my metaphysical interests.? This practice feels deep and heartfelt.? It uplifts and often heals in areas that would not be permitted in business settings. ?I find it very gratifying when I read for others who release tears of joy when receiving a message that they have been longing to hear.?

I still had one dilemma to resolve.? I didn’t want to charge for this service—I don’t personally need the money—but as a savvy businessperson, I also know that people don’t appreciate what they don’t pay for.? On the other hand, I also believe in philanthropy.? So, to address this quandary, I asked The Honor Foundation, a non-profit for which I do pro bono coaching, to create a unique donation link that insures all funds go straight to them.? This allows individuals to directly donate a nominal fee for their half-hour reading and creates a three-fold benefit.? First, it provides a unique service to people who long to connect with a departed loved one. Second, it finances my philanthropic desires to support The Honor Foundation and third, each donor receives a tax deduction for their contribution.
