GOING TO HARROGATE? DON’T GO TO THE SAME OLD PLACES

GOING TO HARROGATE? DON’T GO TO THE SAME OLD PLACES

OK, everyone knows about Bettys, and you can’t argue with dinner at the Ivy if the expense account will stand it. But if you’re looking for something a bit less obvious, here are some suggestions from the Footfall gang (who’ve been wandering around Harrogate for years!)

Best meatballs

Café Mama Emilia, top of Kings Road (about 10 mins walk) Antonio has been doing authentic Italian flavours for years and his meatballs are to die for. The tomato sauce, especially, is unforgettable. Open till about 5.

Best Zeppelin.

What? Zeppelin – a Lithuanian soul food that’s a minced meat bomb wrapped in mashed potato. Delikata, top of Kings Road (about 11 mins walk)

Best pizza

As many opinions as pizza-eaters on this one, but do try Major Tom’s Social, The Ginnel (central Harrogate, off Parliament Street, 3 or 4 mins from the show.). It’s deeply unpretentious - like a youth club for grownups. While you’re there, have a craft beer

Great craft beer

Obvs, we haven’t tried everywhere but Major Tom’s Social has a great range and keeps it well – perfect accompaniment to their pizzas.

Top curry

Cardamom Black, Cheltenham Parade (about a 5 min walk from the show). Maybe a bit cooler than your average flock-wallpapered curry house. Good Gin range, too!

Best spinach pie

Alright, spinach pie isn’t something you usually seek out, but you really must try one for lunch. Another mention for Antonio at Mama Emilia’s.

If you want to argue about any of these recommendations, don’t call us! But if you’d like more info on Footfall underlays , ring the office on 033 323 4570.

Bon appetit!
