If you've been paying any attention at all to my life over the past year through FB or LI (although no doubt you have MUCH better things to do) you've probably noticed my love affair with Chicago. It began last August when we launched the Admin Awards in this great American City.
The crazy thing about Chicago was it felt both exciting and comfortable to me from the very beginning – an interesting combination. Ben joined me on a work trip in February, his first time visiting, and knew instantly what I had been talking about for months: "I could totally live here." Chicago is a city to love. And so are the people there.
For years now Ben and I have had this (pipe) dream of living in the Admin Awards cities we're launching - fully immersing ourselves into the local business community, living without the drag of "stuff" and a bit like gypsies for a while. Living like I suppose I should have been in my twenties, when I was having children instead, a young mother who did pretty much everything backwards and the hard way. The cool thing about that is we're now young empty nesters and as neither of our kids are in Dallas, then why is this a pipe dream?
It turns out, Oprah was right. “The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.”
So we’re doing it. Ben and I are moving to Chicago for a year or two, then will likely be off to Seattle, or Orange County, or Washington D.C. or wherever the Admin Awards train takes us. Call us crazy, the good thing is we’re both the same kind of crazy I suppose, but we are really excited! Yes, we know it’s cold. I’m a Jersey girl remember. We’ll keep our Dallas-based Admin Awards office and I’ll be back monthly as Dallas will always feel like home. And who knows, after we ride this train for a while, we could be back.
Our house is up for sale, please buy it so we can get out of here! It's the only available acre property anywhere near downtown Dallas which is a bit of a rare find!
