Going the extra mile to serve the nation

Our mission at Gousto has always been to be the UK’s most loved way to eat dinner. Since our founding in 2012, this has been the shared purpose that drives our people to be their best every day. More so than ever in these challenging times, I have been inspired by our teams who are going above and beyond to make a difference.

Committed to our customers

There has been unprecedented demand for food delivery services over the past weeks. Our teams have been working 24/7 to deliver for our customers, but even then we have not been able to get a box to everyone who wants one.

We take this incredibly seriously and are rapidly making operational changes that will increase our delivery capacity in the coming weeks. On Monday we began allocating some of this increased capacity between our longest-standing customers and those most in need – vulnerable individuals and NHS workers included. Whilst we expect these changes to make a real difference, we know there is still more to be done and we'll continue working to extend our service to as many people as possible - especially those most in need.

Separately, we have been working with important charities such as Shelter, supporting those at risk of losing their homes, as well as The Trussell Trust food bank network that helps those in need with emergency food. For the latter, we donated the equivalent of 3,000 meals in March and are well on our way to raising £30,000 for their fight against hunger. If you would like to donate you can do so here.

Supporting each other to achieve more

Gousto has a unique culture; a culture that revolves around a genuine belief in our people. It is for this reason that Care features prominently in our Ownership Principles – the core values that we expect of ourselves and each other.

It makes me proud to see so many of our team displaying Care at the moment. ‘Stay safe and look out for one another’ has become our mantra and, while we might be physically apart, we are still in this together and delivering more than ever.

Our socials have taken on a new form, with Feel-Good Fridays a fun wrap up to the week and a way to stay together. There remains a real buzz and energy across teams. Last week our CMO Tom and Product Manager Jon did DJ sets from their living rooms!

There are endless examples of amazing talent stepping up to deliver more than ever. Teams are working 24/7 to deliver one million meals to households across the UK each week–most notably our superstar operations team in Spalding where we have over 100 open roles to support demand.

These are without doubt challenging times. As a team, we are staying focused and taking inspiration from knowing there is more we can do to help families, vulnerable individuals and NHS workers with Gousto deliveries.
