"Women make up 50% of the universe and nurturing outstanding women is still a CAUSE ". This was the opening line from Jacintha Jayachandran, facilitator at the second session of #BrillioWinspire2.0, the launchpad to help women advance in their careers.
Recognizing women's skills, talents, hard-work and accomplishments
How normal it feels to acknowledge a Women Leadership Programme for a CSR! Thankfully rather rightly so, Brillio differs from this line of thought. I say so because, the session urged you to internalize the fact that the locus of control is self, there will be days when work or life can take precedence and we should be able to park all the expectations and judgments that come with it. After all, diversity in leadership not only increases productivity but also net revenue margin by 15%.
Let me give you an overview of the session which was on "Moving beyond Self-doubt and Self-limitation". The first thing we did was write down all the things that we wanted to do professionally and personally. It was a step to acknowledge the fact that unless you are clear on what you want in life, you will be forced to live what others put on your plate. This also made us ponder what was stopping us in doing what we wanted to do. It was anxiety and self-doubt - the perfect recipe for underachievement. Self-doubt builds due to fear of failure and the inability to express our desired self. While, we can begin to express ourselves more by fighting conflict phobia and giving up emotional perfectionism, the only way to overcome failure is by taking action persistently and never to take it personally.
In order to be more self-accepting, let go of guilt and learn to forgive yourself. So, how do you conquer self-doubt? Start with recognizing and acknowledging your self-doubt, identify the source, check for a pattern, devise a plan to overcome challenges and most importantly, take action.
When all of us are blessed with infinite opportunity, infinite potential and infinite joy, why are we limited by finite ambition?
Let us become unstoppable women. Let us become infinite women.
This was the message we heard that day and as we are striving to get there. One step after the other.
