Going Beyond Boundaries

Going Beyond Boundaries

Welcome friends to our new style Affleck & Co. newsletter. A lot has changed in the past few months, so of course our newsletter has had a shake up as well.

“Starting Affleck & Co. has been both a leap of faith and a labour of love. I knew we were building something special, but seeing it unfold has been something else entirely.?

“I wanted to bring a new kind of model to the grassroots and community sports sector—one that offers real flexibility and a straightforward way to bring in expertise. The Collective approach we’ve built allows organisations to get the right support without overcomplicating things.

“Things have been moving at lightning speed. We’ve submitted over ten tender responses and have been bravely and intentionally putting our unique collective model out into the world.

“It’s a model that feels timely and, I hope, valuable to the sports sector, not only for inclusion, but also for our collaborative approach.?

If you'd like to chat with me directly, feel free to drop me a note. I hope this newsletter provides plenty of value as we near the end of 2024.”

Chelsea Foundation's Inspire Her Launch

Nicky was overjoyed to join the Chelsea Foundation's Inspire Her launch at Stamford Bridge—a brilliant initiative dedicated to empowering girls through sport. The partnership between the Foundation, the club, and the local schools, supported by fiercely inspiring ambassadors like Millie Bright and Sam Kerr, is a great example of strategic collaboration. This approach ensures investment is mobilised in a way that promotes long-term sustainability—something we know is vital when it comes to shifting perceptions and changing behaviours, especially for girls in sport.

Thank you Josh Denington and Laura Cordingley. for the invitation, and of course the opportunity to watch the Chelsea Women take on Manchester City!

Sweaty Betty Foundation Board Away Day

Did you know that Nicky is a Trustee on the The Sweaty Betty Foundation board? Nicky spent two days with this incredible group of women as the board came together to plan and collaborate.

We celebrate each and every member of the board for their genuine commitment to creating opportunities for young women who face the biggest barriers to being active. Each of these wonderful women bring their own unique energy, ideas, and passion.

We’re excited to see what’s ahead for Nicky and this special group of women.

Pledged to Say the Pay

Affleck & Co. has taken the #SayThePay pledge to promote inclusive salary transparency policies, encouraging organisations to diversify their teams and build a high-performance culture.

For future salaried roles, Affleck & Co. pledges to include a salary or salary band in at least 50% of all job postings for 2024 and 2025. By removing the ambiguity of 'competitive salary' and fostering transparency, organisations can help create a sports industry that values inclusivity, fairness, and empowerment for all professionals.

Female Founders Rise Campaign Celebration x Community Meetup

On Tuesday the 18th November, Nicky attended the FFR Campaign Celebration x Community Meetup, a gathering designed to celebrate the progress of female founders and highlight the importance of women-led businesses in the UK.

A statistic shared during the event stood out: only 15% of businesses in the UK are owned or led by women. This insight served as a powerful reminder of the need for continued effort to close the gap and create more opportunities for women in entrepreneurship.

The evening featured a panel discussion, networking, and thought-provoking conversations, providing valuable perspectives and inspiration. Nicky appreciated the chance to connect with other founders and reflect on the collective impact of women driving change in business.

Special thanks to Female Founders Rise for hosting and to YeahNice for supporting the event. Spaces like this are vital for fostering progress and building a strong entrepreneurial community.

We love our clients, and it’s amazing when we feel the love right back. Thank you, Francesca Brown, CEO & Founder of Goals4Girls for sharing the love.
