Going it alone!

A little while ago whilst looking for new things to help my learning/growth I stumbled across a free course called Storytelling For Change by the Acumen Academy. I thought it looked interesting and whilst it's primary intent was to be group based I had nobody to join with, plus not being sure how my workload was going to be I wound up creating a group just for myself and called it 'Going it alone'.

So, there is a clue is in the name right?! However I found myself inundated with requests to join! We had ten folk join the group (and I had to decline many others!) and as with all things, eventually some dropped off leaving a core group of four of us actively working on it. We had one person from Canada, one from Italy and one from Singapore, plus myself in the UK - a real spread of time zones and cultures! I have to say I was not expecting nor prepared for facilitating a group for this course - but you know what, now some six weeks after the course started I truly feel honoured to have heard the stories that have been shared by them and to have been a small part of helping them get through the course and complete it! Dare I say, it indeed became the highlight of my week knowing I was going to be chatting with them and learning new things about myself and others - so for those on the fence, go it alone, you never know what you might get out of it! #learning #growth #storytelling
