God's plan - no regrets
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. – Philippians 1:6
Wow, I had the most humbling and appreciative conversation tonight with my oldest son. It's amazing that I can be 52 years of age and hear some words of wisdom from a 22 year old that just nails the perspective.
Let me give you some background. The Mays family has always been a military family. I have family members that served in WWI, WWII, Korea and the Vietnam War. I am also related to Stonewall Jackson. So, it's safe to say...we have a history of service.
My life took me a different path. When I graduated HS in 1987 my parents were not to keen on me joining the Army so I went to Campbell University. I don't know honestly if it was out of respect for them or out of there was nothing going on confrontation wise. Regardless it was the right choice. I've been blessed.
Anyway - tonight while txt'ing back and forth with my son who IS in the US Army I told him how proud I was on this recent accomplishment and how I wished I would have done the same. I guess I've shared this to much. He came back and said...
"Dad, I think you sometimes regret that you never served in the Army but your life led you down a different path and you may or may not have been my Dad if you did serve so I'm glad you didn't".
WOW...where are the napkins. Son - you are so right! I have no regrets. You, your sister, your brother and my wife...are God's blessings. Thank you for this moment of clarity. God knows the path....God knows the plan...God is doing great things in this family!
Love you Lord!

3 年May we look back with confidence knowing God has chosen us to demonstrate His mercy and has provided our past to demonstrate His faithfulness. If it were up to me I would have chosen a completely different course for my life, far more ideal circumstances and favorable relations but today, by His grace, I can see His fingerprint on my heaviest challenges. And thank Him for every single moment that came up short of my expectation. So today I thanks you, Warren J Mays, for this word. Keep serving, keep reflecting for His glory!

3 年Hey Warren, we're the same age. In my case I went right from high school in June 1987 into the U. S. ARMY. If I had chose to do anything else who knows where I would be. It was in the Army I met my wife, committed my life to Christ, decided to go to Elim Bible Institute, and then began building our family of 6 kids. We are coming up on 33 years of marriage on May 28, 2021 and have no regrets. I love my wife more than ever before and we have raised some pretty amazing kids with the help of the Lord and the support of the church body.
