Godly Sorrow

Oh this sorrow?

Wallows in my soul?

How can I lend my spirit

To soothe what you hold

Oh these stories?

That we let take control

Pouring anguish?

Into hearts of young and old?

Oh well it seems that I have found a place where memories build and erase

The promises that were never kept and traumas swept under our beds

As little kids, we sang along to words that we did not understand

And as we age and get close to death we cannot help but remember them?

So god please hold their hands today

My loved ones that do not see an end

To the misery and contempt?

That lingers inside of their heads

I pray all day and every night that you will fish them in again

Just like you did when they were kids so pure and oh-so-innocent?

I write these words and shed a tear for I truly do hold them dear

And on days like these, I feel this godly sorrow draws me in

On days like these, I weep to god for my family and my friends?
