God, help me know that if I’m obsessing about a problem, it’s not because I have to. Dropping it is always a choice available to me

When faced with a problem or challenge, it’s easy to get caught up in endless cycles of obsessing over it. We may find ourselves consumed by thoughts about the issue, unable to focus on anything else. In these moments, it can feel like the problem is all-encompassing, taking over our lives and leaving us feeling overwhelmed and powerless.

However, it’s important to remember that obsessing over a problem is a choice. We have the power to decide whether or not we want to continue to give our thoughts and energy to the issue at hand. God grants us the ability to see that we do not have to allow our problems to consume us. We can choose to let go of our obsessive thoughts and trust that everything will work out in the end.

In the Bible, Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This verse serves as a comforting reminder that we can turn to God in times of trouble and find peace in knowing that we are not alone in our struggles.

It’s also important to seek guidance from others when we are feeling overwhelmed by a problem. Talking to a trusted friend, family member, or counselor can help provide a different perspective on the issue and offer support and encouragement. Proverbs 11:14 states, “Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors, there is safety.” Seeking help from others can help us gain clarity and wisdom in navigating our problems.

Ultimately, we must remember that obsessing over a problem is a choice. We can choose to let go of our worries and trust in God’s plan for us. By surrendering our problems to God and seeking support from others, we can find peace and strength in knowing that we are not alone in our struggles. Let us remember that dropping our problems is always a choice available to us, and through God’s guidance, we can find the courage to release our worries and embrace a sense of peace and hope.
