God bless that ill-placed comma!

One glance at a page full of words
And I instantly feel like a proofreader
Armed with a pen, I read out loud
Everywhere I draw little tear marks and blobs
Replace lengthy words with simple, pithy language
Stretch some sentences to add a bit of context
Get rid of the semicolon, because nobody writes like that anymore
Flank some words with commas because that's what #grammarnazis are for
Yet, somewhere, I could feel there was justice undone
What was the writer thinking? What is their philosophy?
Is there a reason they wrote clouded skies...
When they could simply write cloudy?
Went back to the first word with a fresh set of eyes
Only to read silently this time
God bless that ill-placed comma that convinced me
Loosely constructed sentences can speak loudly
