God Bears Us on Eagles’ Wings
Exodus 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.
Deuteronomy 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him as the apple of his eye. 11As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttering over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings, 12. So the Lord did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.
Introduction:
God wants to bring us to Himself. His ultimate goal is to transform us into the image of His Son and abide with Him forever. In this lesson, we see how God worked with His people, Israel, in the Old Testament. Israel went into Israel at the time of Joseph with about 70 people and over the ensuing years grew into a mighty nation of more than 2,000,000 people. Under the leadership of Moses, God led them out of Egypt and into the promised land through might miracles first in the land of Egypt, and then in the wilderness. God Himself uses the illustration of the eagle to show how He drew His people to Himself. He works the same with us today. He wants us to know Him personally and to abide with Him and serve Him forever.?Philippians 3:10 That I might know Him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his suffering, being made conformable unto his death.
As the eagle builds, so the Lord builds:
The eagle builds an astounding nest for the eaglets.??The nest is built high up on a crag or tree with a commanding view of the landscape. Some nests are huge, over 10 to 20 feet in diameter and may weigh as much as two tons. The work is gradual, and often the nest is reused for many years. The eagle lines the bottom with soft feathers.
Likewise, God builds our lives over our entire lifetime. Paul writes:?Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.God is patiently working in our lives to transform us to be more like Jesus Christ.
As the eagle, so the Lord breaks:
The eaglet is comfortable and complacent in his nest. If he remains there, he will never fulfill his role in life. He is made to soar in the sky. So, the mother starts removing the feathers. Some sticks are turned upright. The eaglet is no longer comfortable and is compelled to go to the edge of the nest and begin to fly. In the same way, the Lord often allows situations to disturb us and move us out of our comfort zones.
I remember that immediately after salvation everything went much better in my life. But after some time, trials began to come. God was working to strengthen me to do other work for Him. I think that most believers have a similar experience. It does not mean that the Lord is angry at us, although sometimes the trials may be His discipline to abandon our sinful lifestyle or??our self-sufficiency.?
As the eagle breaks, so the Lord broods:
The eagle fluttereth over her young. When the eagle forces the eaglet out of the nest, she is constantly watching him. When the eaglet first attempts to fly, he may tumble toward the ground, but the mother swoops underneath and brings him up, sometimes rising with the eaglet to greater heights for another attempt. Over time, the eaglet begins to soar like the mother. In the same way, we can know that the Lord is constantly watching us. Jesus promises never to leave or forsake us. We may think that we have been abandoned, but that is not true. The almighty God, who has all power and authority in heaven and earth, is watching over us.?
As the eagle bears, so the Lord bears:
God never abandons us. It is said that no one has ever seen an eaglet fall to his death. Certainly, the Lord promises to protect us in terms of our eternal destination. We can rest in His promises. We should keep our eyes on the Lord.?2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass (mirror) the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord.?We need to remember that His goal for us is not limited to what we are doing in service here on earth, but that His ultimate goal is to bear us to be with Him and serve Him forever.

1 年Beautiful illustration and simple explanation. Loved this read! The Lord has given me Isaiah 40.29 on an off oblver the years and again recently. I love how God guides us and speaks to us through scripture and other means, including through you. Thank you for your obedience. Blessings x
