Goals, Growth and a Little Bit of Chaos!

Goals, Growth and a Little Bit of Chaos!

A woodpecker can tap twenty times on a thousand trees and get nowhere but stay busy. Or, it can tap twenty-thousand times on one tree and get dinner.

Hey Friend,

It’s that time of the year when everything feels chaotic (in the best way possible). Offices are bubbling with end of the year parties, festive bonuses and holiday leaves. And let’s not even talk about the excitement around 13th salaries and festive packages.

But for me? As a freelancer, I’ve never experienced that buzz firsthand—no bonus, no holiday parties, nada. But I hope that changes in 2024. Until then, I’m just soaking in the energy around me—it’s plenty FR!

The One I’m Doing

Right now, I’m knee-deep in building my new design portfolio. It’s one of those “here’s everything I’ve worked on; please be impressed” kind of things. ??

While working on the “About Me” page, I took a moment to reflect on my journey—and wow.

In just 4–5 years, I’ve gone from writing business plans and fictions to trying out affiliate and digital marketing (I even got certified, lol). There was also that time I almost became a journalist, interviewing innovators and writing about their cool projects.

And now? I’m a product designer with my eyes set on designing for XR, VR and AR spaces.

What’s stayed constant through all these transitions is my hunger for growth. I’m realizing that I’m not afraid to try new things, adapt quickly and embrace the unknown. It’s scary most times but it’s also my unique strength.

The One Thing I’m Learning

Here’s what I’m learning this week: a bad plan is better than no plan at all.

I know, the internet loves to hate on New Year’s resolutions. Life gets in the way, plans fall apart and we end up feeling worse for not sticking to them.

But I’ve learned that even imperfect plans matter. They give you direction and accountability—and they’re way better than winging it.

For example, every December, I review my year. I carry over unfinished goals, set new ones and write them all down. It doesn’t always go perfectly, but having that framework keeps me grounded and helps me track progress.

This year, I’m doubling down on planning, even if it’s perfect. Because what I’m learning is this: when you give yourself something to aim for, you’re already halfway there.

Want to reflect on your year too? Here is a Personal Annual Review resource that can help. It’s all about taking time to look back, reflect and map out your next steps for growth.

You can check it out here—I’d love to hear how it helps you! ??

Also attached is an image resource my accountability partner - Comfort Daniels shared with me to Plan for my New 2025 Era. It’s should help you too.

The One Thing I Think You Should Try

Look 5 to 10 years and ask yourself this question

With the skillls i currently have and the things i currently know, am i a relevant person that people sort after?

And if you like you can bring it home,

With the skillls i currently have and the things i currently know, am i a relevant person that people sort after?

If your answer is “no,” it’s time to hit the planningboard.

And hey, if you’re unsure where to start, let me know! Reply to this email, and I’ll share a simple framework to help you plan for a stronger, more intentional YOU in next week’s newsletter.

About That Quote…

That woodpecker analogy hit me because it reminds me of “the Dip.”

I believe it’s human nature to quit when things get hard. But here’s the thing: quitting in the Dip wastes the time and energy you’ve already invested. And quitting often enough turns you into a serial starter, jumping from thing to thing without ever finishing.

So here’s my takeaway: If you can’t commit to making it through the tough parts, maybe don’t start. But if you can, dig in and push through—it’s worth it. (Go hard or Go Home lols)

Your Turn! ??

Let’s make this a conversation:

  1. What’s one goal you’re planning to focus on in 2024?
  2. What’s the biggest “Dip (worst moment through a plan)” you’ve pushed through this year and what did it teach you?

Reply to this email or comment below—I’d love to hear your thoughts!

How i look at you when you decide to not share your thoughts with me.

Cheers to reflection, growth and a better US!
