GOALS

GOALS

To celebrate #World Mental Health day, Simon chatted to us about setting and achieving goals in our personal and work lives whilst overcoming life's obstacles.

When considering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), I came across Murphy’s book, “Hard Goals: The Secret to Getting from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be.” This book integrates the latest findings in psychology and brain science on goal-setting, along with the principles of the law of attraction, to refine the goal-setting process.

Murphy (2010) emphasizes that a HARD goal is one that is achieved. Murphy tells us to put our present cost into the future and our future benefit into the present.

Essentially, this means we should not delay actions that can be taken today. We often place higher value on immediate rewards compared to future ones.

Adopting this mindset could significantly benefit our approach to the SDGs. It’s crucial for everyone to regularly reassess their personal goals and the vision they have for the world, and to diligently work towards updating them.
