Goals: 3 Indispensable questions to ask yourself!
It is a standard question: 'What do you want to achieve in life? What are your goals?' A question so easily asked, yet so complex to answer. A question too that will get a different answer depending on which stage of life you are in, and how you are looking at life.
I would not be surprised if most of you will be focused on 1 type of goals which are?called "means" goals or the 'so called' keys to 'having it made in life', and the reason why so many people experience a?quarter-life or midlife crisis.?
Let me explain the difference between "end" goals and these "means" goals:
End goals?are the ones that are related to what it means to be human. Goals like being happy, feeling satisfied, and contributing to the world we live in with the gifts we were given.?
An example of a?means goal?would be to get a certain degree in school, to make a certain amount of money, or to get a certain position at work.
Many of us mistakenly think that "means" goals are "end" goals. That if we achieve any of these goals, we will be happy and fulfilled.?This, as it turns out, is not so.
Although "means" goals certainly can be useful, achieving them is not what our life is about.?Life, ultimately, is not about doing good on a certain test, having a certain job title, or driving a certain car. Yet,?instead of getting clear on our end goals, and focusing on those, most of us are obsessed with "means" goals.
We need to ask ourselves:
What is it I?really?want?
And what would?truly?make me, and the people I love, happy?
As mentioned before, unfortunately, it’s not that uncommon to experience a quarter-life or midlife crisis these days. Even if you live your life by all the rules – you work hard, achieve great results, and continuously strive to improve yourself – chances are, you’ll still wake up one day feeling unfulfilled and unhappy.
So what is it we?truly?want in life?

When your final day has come, what’s your legacy going to be? What’s the mark you want to leave on the world? Will you have lived your passion and will you have had fun doing so?
If you haven’t given this much thought before, you’re not the only one. Many people don’t ask themselves what it?really?means to live a good life. They strive to one day, preferably sooner than later, reach something, and that something will finally grant them the golden key to the door of happiness. And in the meantime? In the meantime, they forget to truly live. So don’t postpone asking yourself the most important questions.?
Before your final day arrives, what is it you want to experience? What is it that you really do not want to miss out on in this lifetime? And if there were no limitations and you would presume abundance, what could you honestly do without?
Growing or developing ourselves and contributing to society are both part of our spiritual needs. And acting on those needs, believe me or not, is the surest way to find fulfilment.
The three main categories or “buckets” we can divide our lives into are experiences, growth, and contribution. In?accordance,?the?three most important questions we can ask ourselves are:
Answering these questions will give you a blueprint into your soul, and will make you discover what it takes for you to know you truly?lived?life.?You might be surprised what will come to you once you define, and start taking action towards, your "end" goals.
"Goals, there's no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There's no telling what you can do when you believe in them. And there's no telling what will happen when you act upon them." - Jim Rohn
I believe it is more than time to start reverse-engineering. Set out your end goals and then intertwine the means goals.
Wishing you warmth & inspiration,
