Goal setting for the New Year

The end of the year is a great time to take stock of the year gone by and start thinking about what changes you desire and what aspirational goals can be set in the New Year.
Based on the stage of your life you are in, often some goals take precedence over others & rightly so. For example a student may be focussed on doing well in academics over everything else, a junior/mid level executive might focus on his career/family goals. But as years go by & priorities change, as the quest for making a difference starts being perceived, and the desire to make goals more expansive take precedence, a opportunity presents itself to experiment with multitudes of dimensions which might not have been on the radar in the earlier years. I have been exploring different frameworks for articulating them. For example it could be a simple 2*2 matrix of Honing existing skills/Acquiring new skills/Personal/ Professional goals.
Such a framework for example , could look like this -
While this framework is concise, it may miss out some finer details that you might want to at least consider before you make choices.
As it stands, it also does not account for the discrepancies that might appear between your own personal view of where you stand versus what your close family members/colleagues might council.
Keeping this in mind, I explored another frame work which explores Goal setting across 5 key tracks - 1. Functional skills 2.Physical Fitness 3. Emotional Quotient 4. Family/Social Quotient, 5. Spiritual Quotient
This framework allows exploration for a more balanced and holistic personal growth.
Each of us could conduct a personal assessment, compare notes with family/friends & make a unique choice around what we think are the most important drivers that would help us evolve as a persona & would most possibly help us reach our full potential over time. I do hope you find the framework helpful.
With best wishes to my friends across the network for a exciting 2020. May it be full of opportunities & possibilities. Do remember it is the efficiency and determination of execution that separates the achievers from the rest.
As Mahatma Gandhi said - Be the change you wish to see in this world!
