The Goal Line in a Different Game

During a big career change, possibly into a new field, you might "go to zero" professionally:

  1. no authority
  2. no staff
  3. few, if any, clients,
  4. little reputation and
  5. a lacking professional network.

The fear of losing may creep in that you can't repeat the success from previous chapters. The surrounding envrionment of previous accomplishments are vacated. Second guessing can set in. A knot in your stomach exists that you might not come back again. It has been a long time since, "I can't do this," creeps into your psyche.

Other days, you may be afraid of winning. You don't believe success can come again. I compare it to football. Rarely, there was an opening so big that when you broke through the line the amount of space available to run startled you. And, you know it will close quick...and violently!

In this moment, you must run to the space...the daylight. This is an opportunity to succeed again, just as you did in the previous station or career. Raise your knees and run to the goal line!

The opportunity is there for you, even at "zero." And, I'm betting all the experiences leading up to this time have value. Skills and strategies can apply to entirely different industries. I guarantee it!
