What are GOALS and why are they so important? The answer is simple: needs a change and fostering desired results. Setting a GOAL is how I can get there! ACTIONS are a necessity. The goal can’t happen without fluid and correct actions by an individual or the entire group.
COMMUNICATE: Goal Coordination
Realizing a goal needs to be set lays the groundwork for progress and GOAL COORDINATION. Individual and group goals sometimes go hand in hand; other times it is a solo journey. Keep these keys in mind as you move ahead.
Key #1: Motivation – A motivational goal action in an existing or created situation will make the difference.? If approached with positivity, gusto, and accountability results will have a higher percentage of success. (It may pre-set the next goal in line.)
Key #2: Process – A path needed to coordinate the goal must be created and be easily utilized by other individuals involved. Moving in constantly different directions with no headway will hinder coordinated goal activities. CREATE and WORK the process!
Key #3: Be Dynamic – Sometimes choices are quick, cut, dry and easy. Other times the best-laid plans go astray. Be fluid in choices or unexpected changes and the final coordinated goal will be reachable. (Example: Joe is the production manager at Widgets Inc. and has a new product release scheduled to start tomorrow. He notices a computer error that would cause production problems and result in multiple costly returns. After communicating with the heads of Widgets Inc. they decided to hold off the new product release another month so there is no error present when it releases. Joe gets the error fixed. The product becomes one of their most successful and profitable widgets yet and the company gains many new and long-term customers which was laid out in the initial goal.

LEAD: Goal Leaders
With every goal that is set, there is someone who has a responsibility to see that it is met. Goal leadership positions can be centered on a specific individual or a general team effort but is an essential task to achieving the goal successfully.?
Key #1: Motivation – It is one of the main catalysts to moving toward the final goal. Motivation is an active and focus-driven force, where the individual or group feels its internal rewards of accomplishment. Every change that occurs is because results weren’t left just to chance.
Key #2: Decisiveness – Decisions need to constantly be made and monitored to achieve the goal at hand. Without a solid direction followed through with decisive decision-making, the positive results of the goal could be severely lessened. Be clear in your path and decisions. MAKE a difference.
Key #3: Hear (Not Just Listen) – What did Charlie Brown’s teacher sound like? He listened…but did it ever sink in? Internalize and use feedback from other individuals and goal leaders positioned to complete the achievement. Their experiences intermingled with yours can lead to even better results than anticipated.
Setting and achieving a Goal is sometimes a lofty process. It should be actively pursued. If actions needed to get the specific goal accomplished are not monitored, and no process is put in place, the results could be skewed from the originally intended finish. A well-completed goal will open the door to many other possibilities.?
