GOAL - The Acronym
The word GOAL implies different things to different people. Yes, commonly it is something to achieve in the distant future - sooner or later - but I would like to see it as an acronym as below –
G – GROUNDING to know my strengths and capabilities – the actual and the potential – so that I know what I am capable of becoming or achieving. A true evaluation helps avoid wasted efforts and any future disappointments.
O – OWNERSHIP to own it up for myself, when it comes to achieving something, without expecting someone else to slog it out for or along with me. It is one thing having someone to hold me accountable so that I do my best without giving in to phases of procrastination for whatever reason, but totally another wanting someone to keep prodding me even on days when I don’t want to do anything about the goal I myself chose – this is where Grounding comes.
A – ASSERTIVENESS to go all out towards the chosen destination, with unshakeable belief in myself. This does not mean I put down someone, or harm others. It’s rising higher than my own self, by actually growing upwards, rather than by cutting down someone else to merely appear higher than that someone. Simply, it is doing what I believe is right to accomplish what I desire, without infringing the rights of others.
L – LOVE for the final target or the desired position, without which we will either not reach the goal or even if we do we will not be able to enjoy our place there and will be constrained to suffer severe stress making all our efforts we took to reach there worthless.
