Goa Tourism shines at WTM London 2024

The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, left a lasting mark at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2024, unveiling Goa’s unique charm and forward-thinking tourism initiatives to a global audience. Held at ExCeL London, the Goa Pavilion captivated visitors from 5th to 7th November 2024, celebrating Goa’s cultural depth, natural beauty, and strong commitment to sustainability.

The pavilion’s opening ceremony on 5th November set the tone for a memorable showcase, with an inauguration by His Excellency Shri Vikram Doraiswami, High Commissioner to the UK, and Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, the Honourable Tourism Minister of Goa, along with Shri Sanjeev Ahuja, IAS, Secretary Tourism, Government of Goa.

The Pavilion received esteemed visitors, including Smt. Pravati Parida, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, and Mugdha Sinha, IAS, Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Their presence highlighted the collaborative spirit shared among Indian states, further enriching the experience for attendees. Additionally, notable guests from the Goan diaspora, including Oscar Castellino, opera singer; Chloe De Mendonca, PR Director of GOA UK; and Ravi Vaz, President of GOA UK; father of former UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman, Chris Fernandes visited the Pavilion.

During the three-day event, the Goa delegation—led by Minister Khaunte and including key officials such as Shri Sanjeev Ahuja, IAS, Secretary Tourism ;Shri Sandip Jacques, IAS, Secretary (Exposition of St. Francis Xavier); Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, Deputy Director of Tourism; and Shri Shawn Mendes, OSD to the Minister —engaged with global industry leaders. The delegations’ visited to the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club Pavilion and the Saudi Pavilion.

Goa’s participation at WTM London is not merely a celebration of its offerings but a testament to its commitment to Responsible Tourism. The Pavilion showcased the “Goa Beyond Beaches” and Regenerative Tourism initiatives, inviting visitors to experience the state’s adventure, wellness, and spiritual landscapes, and more. This presentation highlighted Goa’s dedication to preserving its natural and cultural heritage while empowering local communities.

In an era where tourism demands sustainable growth, Goa is setting a benchmark. The state’s representation at WTM London has left a lasting impression on visitors, who departed with a newfound appreciation for Goa’s unique appeal and progressive vision.
