Go on. You know you want to.
Don't believe everything you read (apart from this article of course)

Go on. You know you want to.

Oh, don’t worry. I’m not going to start preaching about life, the universe, religion.

Instead, I thought I’d unpick that word a little as it is one that comes up a great deal in my day-to-day work life – specifically, the need to believe in what you are doing and why.

Or, put it another way, the purpose in your actions and where they will take you.

I don’t always need it written down or presented to me in a 50 page slide deck.

Often it’s a feeling. That things are “just right” and it usually will be a result of the who I am working with (not the who I am working for).

People give you belief. Confidence. In yourself and in the team.?That everything can be accomplished no matter what the challenges that exist.

It feels great to have people believe in you.?It feels even better when you are ensuring you’re trying to convince more believers!?I like to give a daily dose of vitamin Fi in that respect (especially when we’re pushing at 100mph and moreso if there are headwinds!).

But it’s not just with your peers. It’s also with your clients.?The sense of pride and achievement can be overwhelming when you know, just know, the client believes in you and your team.?Not because of a case study you like to show.?Or a set of numbers that tell them you’ve reached a certain size. It’s definitely not by shouting about the award you just won.?You get belief because they see and hear and lean into your team every day.?They feel supported, endorsed, embraced, nay loved, by you and they trust you implicitly to deliver for them personally and for their brand.

I often say I believe in myself best when I’m in action mode. But that belief needs constant top up in order to keep my own faith strong.?As it does for your team.?It’s not a “one hit wonder” where you tell them what to believe and then expect them to come on the journey.?In your words, deeds and behaviours, you must continuously give them many reasons to keep believing (or not to stop as Journey would say).

By doing so, you can believe you’ll get success.

Amen.
