Go Where You are Called
There are so many who determine the success of their journey by the number of people they attract. If I am to be completely honest, I was once that person as well. I focused on filling conference rooms and other venues, speaking on the largest platforms with huge audiences, and getting numerous likes and comments on social media. I actually used to consider myself a failure if I did not achieve these things. However, what I have since come to realize is that it was all about ego and insecurity on my part. God does not call us all to reach and serve the masses.
"Go where you are called," my oldest brother said to me when I started expressing my disappointment after some training and speaking endeavors. "God does not call everyone to speak on big stages or present training to hundreds. Your assignment is you-specific."
I thought about what he said long and hard, resonated on every word, and concluded that he was speaking the truth. I was comparing my assignment to that of others, basing my success on who and how many I attracted, and how much applause was sent my way.
Now I go wherever God calls me, whether it is to coach one person or a group, step on the platform to speak to thousands or a few, or write a quote, one page article or a book. I train for individuals, small groups, or corporations and I do it all with equal passion. My God-given purpose deserves nothing less from me.
Where are you on your journey? Are you concerned about who and how many show up or who is not there to support the assignment God has given you? Are you still concerned about your "status" or the level that you have yet to reach? If so, stop focusing on what those around you are doing, cure that disease of comparability. Listen to what God is telling you. His assignment for you may never require you to reach large groups or to assume a certain high-level title. There may be just a few out there who are to be the recipients of the gifts God has given you. Still, give with all that you have. Always strive to do your very best. Leave no doubt about your passion for the journey. Remember that it is all to glorify God, to lift up His name.
Once I embraced that I am exactly where I am supposed to be and that I would go wherever I was called to be, more and more doors started opening for me. Behind some doors are one or a few people. Hundreds greet me when I open others, but what they all receive from me is one and the same. I remember for Whom and why I am doing it, that I am there because that is where God called me, and I serve them with all that is in me.
I encourage you to do the same. Serve one, a few, or hundreds the same way and more and more doors will open up for you too.
