Go self-employed, it’ll be great…

Go self-employed, it’ll be great…

You get to control your own time and be your own boss

My family and friends used to say “You’re so lucky”

But in reality, I was also stressed up to my eyeballs, working every hour god sends and struggling to generate a decent amount of profit each month

If I said that I’d never been on the brink of packing it all in and just getting a job, I’d be a liar

That thought occurred to me daily for months and I think it does for most business owners because it’s a tough gig leaving the financial security of a 9-5 and paving your own way through life - you need to be courageous

That being said, courage only gets you so far - I mean, I had tonnes of it but what I didn’t have was a system to generate leads

And without leads, you don’t have a business… you have a hobby

You may be wondering what that process even looks like, so I’m going to outline it for you now in a series of logical steps...

  1. Understand your dream buyer - Your advertising, marketing, and products all come back to this
  2. If you don’t know who you’re talking to and what problems their facing, it doesn’t matter how loud you shout, no one will listen to what you have to say
  3. Create the perfect bait - Resources & training that your ideal buyer can’t wait to sink their teeth into
  4. Capture the lead - When your ideal buyer raises their hand asking for this resource you need to capture their details in the form of contact details for email marketing or simply opening up the doors to an initial conversation in messenger
  5. Show them your irresistible offer - This is your product or service based on the problems they actually have and what they actually WANT to buy
  6. Generate traffic - It’s all well and good having all these systems in place, but if you want to scale and grow your business you need a predictable way of generating leads and that’s where paid traffic comes into play
  7. Nurture - Most of your audience isn’t ready to buy otherwise they would have already, so marketing to them is going to give you a MASSIVE advantage over your competition. You can do this through email marketing, content marketing, and paid re-targeting
  8. Enrolment - All of the above is designed to produce opportunities inside of your business so that you can make sales. But the sales process is more than just; hop on a call and see how it goes, it’s a process within itself
  9. Once you have all the above in place and you’re getting clients inside of your business and making a profit, it’s time to scale ideally using some form of paid advertising

That’s a birds-eye view of the process you need to be following to get your online business to a point where it provides you with the revenue you need to live the lifestyle you want

It goes without saying that each of those steps has systems and processes inside of them that can be tweaked and tailored to individual businesses and if I were to go into them today this post would be 100x longer

That’s why I put together the Thriving Business Playbook which is a free guide that walks you through the above in a lot more detail

There are many perks to being self employed and of course the sense of accomplishment is so much stronger when you succeed.... but it can be hard work and the lure of employment can be very seductive!
