So what is the consensus?
Businesses came at a standstill, lots of mistakes were made and the panic button was used frequently. However, we are starting to adapt, regroup, and move forward with a plan! Let’s face it there will be no normal going forward but there will be a new way of thinking, working, living, and socialising. Many of our clients buried their heads down and hibernated whilst others been marching forward innovating, planning, and reconfiguring – this is no time to become complacent…
No one is an expert at handling this environment, but we have some advice and tips that could benefit your business and you can start implementing from today!
Your Clients/Customers
- Regular contact, forget emails, zoom, or writing them letters – pick up the phone! Find out how their business is doing before expecting business from them. We have become compassionate and honest that everyone is suffering so showing genuine care and interest will go a long mile!
- Virtual is so hot right now, anything visual that shows the space/venue, or your food/service product is vital. Invest in good tech – do not scrimp on the product as you might need this reel for a while to come.
- Marketing, Marketing, and again Marketing!!! The digital content is now more important than ever, social media including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, newsletters, and competitions, special offers are essential to any business. If you posted a newsletter 2 months ago or your social media post is older than a week then all that shows that you don’t invest time in your product so why should your client invest their money in, you!
- Revisit your pricing strategy and make it market reflective, this is not 2019 so clients will be looking for a bargain now more than ever!
- Collaborations, partnerships and work together to stay ahead. Many businesses have partnered up with their frenemies and have created some successful campaigns and services which normally might’ve not worked – 2 heads are better than one!
- COVID content on your website – how is your business managing the current crisis, what health and safety measures are in place, how safe is it – do not hide it in a document, have it accessible for your clients to see without having to ask.
Your Team
- The people you have will either make or break your business – simple as that. Revisit all the job descriptions and set new expectations for everybody. This is a great time to get HR support and guidance from professionals
- Communicate daily, weekly, monthly! Invest time in making sure everybody is okay and they have the support needed to do their job effectively
- Is your team communicating with each other? Surveys show that 60% of staff have become disengaged with their brand during this time due to lack of social communication with their peers, create coffee zoom mornings split into teams for weekly competitions (this is fun and you deliver results collaboratively) and of course, weekly happy hour is a must!
- Honesty and transparency – this is not a time to plan behind closed doors, get the team involved ask for ideas and support, they will feel more engaged and will have a sense of belonging which will lead to commitment and loyalty!
We have been extremely lucky and honored to have worked with many business leaders throughout this crisis and we ourselves have learned and adapted a lot!
We are here to support in more ways than just recruitment so get in touch ??
