I have a business friend whom I subscribe to his blogs. They are well written and most of the time seem to apply to what I am doing or trying to accomplish. They capture my attention and imagination and most of the time a joy to read. I’m most encouraged. I have wanted to write and publish my own blogs, but have always felt inadequate, but, I think I’ll let the chips fall where they may and just maybe, over time, my words may capture you as well as Dennis’s words capture me.
So here goes, my first blog post.
A few weeks back I was having a conversation with my oldest son. He’s is off on a new adventure, he is back in school to become an aviation mechanic. He was having a challenging day because he couldn’t start as planned and the next opening wasn’t until next spring. Rather than him have a pity party we discussed the advantages of not starting now. One of the biggest advantages is that he will be working around and with the people and the industry he is trying to get into. We talked about not just working hard but always going beyond what is called of him. He said, yeah, I know dad, we always go the extra mile, right? Absolutely, always go the extra mile! I reminded him that by going the extra mile he will capture the attention of the people that he wants to him in a very positive way. When he is ready to move on from where he is now, it will be those very people that he caught their attention, that will help him get the job or help him start the business he has been working toward.
I have no doubt that my son will go far beyond what is required. He was brought up that way, it’s in his DNA and it’s his mind set. Absolutely I’m proud of my son! Put in the action and go the extra mile!!
