Go Big or...heck. Just Go Big.
Clarity is King - and you can reign as a top communicator

Go Big or...heck. Just Go Big.

This week, I submitted the core manuscript for my new book on the Clarity Formula to my editor for dissection by his ruthlessly sharpened red pen. In a few weeks, I'll forward the finished document and graphics to the publisher.

Target release date: mid-October 2023.

The word "relief" is an understatement. And that feeling is not just from the project of book-writing (which is both exhausting and exhilarating - and sometimes even relaxing when you do a writing retreat by the beach).

It's the decades of accidentally-on-purpose trying to figure out one actionable framework that anyone can use for ALL forms of communication. Idealistic? Yep. Go big or go home.

The fact is, my clients and I have been test-driving these principles and practices for years and...it works. So it's time to go big.

Big? Sound like a long, deep, intense read? Nope. This book is less than half the size of most books. When I talk about brevity, clarity, and simplicity, I mean it.

In fact, the title of the book says it best: The Point.

And it may be the most practical, actionable business book you'll ever read. Your emails, presentations, meetings, career direction, marketing, sales, leadership - all of it will be next-level better when you apply clarity principles.

As many of you know, when it comes to business/branding/positioning, I'm all about the niches. Think narrow. Own a differentiated pigeonhole. My first book (Clarity Wins) was all about that.

But communications clarity is not confined to any niche. The need is truly universal. So apparently I'm writing this book for an audience of 8 billion humans, give or take a few million. I guess that's the definition of going big?

This book not intended for extra-terrestrial visitors, however. Maybe next version.

From the Foreword, by one of the top writers and speakers in the business world:

A friend asked me a while back who I thought would benefit from Steve Woodruff’s work on clarity and communication. I thought a moment, and provided a truly honest answer: “Only people with mouths and/or keyboards.

Dang, that's big.

At the same time, I'm working with a training designer to finish building out a more robust set of programs for Clarity workshops. I'll be ready to show you these offerings, if you're interested, by the beginning of April. Everything from one-hour keynotes to multi-session developmental programs for any team.

You, my community of readers and clients, have been very supportive over the years as all of this has been "under construction." Now, the picture is getting much clearer. And bigger. For all of us.

Let me know how I can help you gain new levels of clarity.

During our needs analyses, feedback exchanges, and engagement surveys, Talent Development professionals routinely see that communication is one of the key levers that can be improved in an organization. From leaders out, and from management across, and among peers, people seek understanding and clarity. I have read long, comprehensive?emails that provide too much content or context. On the flipside, I have seen short, direct messages that are crystal?clear, yet leave far too many important?details unaddressed or require?the?recipients to investigate.?? Clarity is definitely needed.?It is more of an art than a science, I'd say.?Being simple and brief, while also specific and articulate, takes practice, reflection and feedback.?I practice and refine regularly. Do you?

What I love about this next step for you is that you've developed the "secret sauce" - but it isn't some magic strategy model. It is more like the "roux" in cooking. It is the foundation for cooking a great and differentiating strategy. How the roux is made must differ some for every recipe (organizational strategy and positioning), it is the foundation for cooking up a great, clear, marketplace loving (tasting) offering!

Congratulations Steve on another great achievement on the CLARITY journey!!?And you are more than right. This is a framework for all communications that anyone can use.?For my team it started as a framework for written communications and was quickly integrated into our sales training program as a selling skill. Looking forward to the book!!
