In a notable shift from the flexible work policies adopted during the pandemic, General Motors (GM) has officially mandated that employees return to the office three days a week. The "Work Appropriately" policy, which allowed staff the flexibility to work remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic, is now being replaced with a more structured approach to in-person work.
In a memo to employees, they outlined the new directive, stating that starting January 8, 2024, employees within 50 miles of a GM office are required to be present in the office 3 days a week.
While the majority of employees will be subject to the three-day-a-week office attendance policy, exceptions will be made for top executives who live out of state. HUH?!
You know the funny thing? This is GM’s THIRD ATTEMPT ???? ?????????????? ?????? ???????? ????????????.
Sep 26, 2022: General Motors has told its corporate staff they'll soon need to work in the office 3 days a week.

1 年Spot on! You'd think by now companies would realize that flexibility isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have. Forcing folks back into the office isn't just outdated, it's downright counterproductive. I reckon GM and others like them will have to learn this the hard way. Time for some rethinking.

1 年Michelle, the conversation around returning to the office should have ended a while back. More and more people are choosing to live life in a way that makes sense for their well-being, family, creative force and overall joy. Gone are the days when salary, fancy job titles, and a corner office would be enough incentive to stop people from choosing the alternative. A life with more ... freedom.
