GM Operations - Open Pit Greenfields Start Up, WA

Overview:

Our client, a Perth-based ASX-listed gold mining company, is seeking a skilled and experienced General Manager Operations to lead the development and execution of its new open-pit gold mine in Western Australia. With mining expected to commence in March/April, this role offers a unique opportunity to oversee a greenfields startup and drive the project through successful production milestones.??

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of the open-pit mining operation;
• Oversee the ramp-up from development to production, ensuring timelines, budgets and safety standards are met;
• Implement and manage operational plans, focusing on efficiency, safety and cost control;
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including environmental and safety standards;
• Collaborate with the corporate team to align operational performance with business objectives;
• Report directly to the executive team and board on key performance metrics, operational challenges and milestones;
• Manage contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Geology;
• Hold a WA statutory Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency or Quarry Manager's Ticket;
• Demonstrated experience in leading greenfields mine startups, preferably in open-pit gold operations;
• Proven track record as a General Manager Operations or a Mining Manager ready to step into a GM role;
• Strong knowledge of open-pit mining methods, planning and scheduling;
• Excellent leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills;
• Effective communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels;
• Ability to manage change and adapt to the dynamic challenges of a startup operation.
