Gluten-free Diet

Gluten-free means avoiding products that contain gluten. When it comes to labeling food, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) controls and defines "gluten free". Gluten-free food must contain less than 20 parts/million (ppm).

It can be difficult to maintain a gluten free diet. Many grains contain gluten. Wheat, rye barley and hybrids are the main grains. Semolina and spelt are made from it. Also, it's in bulgur and couscous. Gluten is present in some flours, including white, graham and matzo flours, as well as enriched, self-rising, enriched flours.

Check the ingredients list to see if you can find gluten in these products.

Gluten is sometimes added to products that are not food.
