GLUE CLEANING OF SEPARATE PROCESS WHICH IS CONSIDERED TO BE A BAD INVENTORY IN MANUFACTURING

SHARING THAT FROM MY PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE THAT HOW THE ELIMINATION & ERADICATION OF GLUE CLEANING OF SEPARATE PROCESS WHICH IS CONSIDERED TO BE A BAD INVENTORY IN MANUFACTURING

Sharing that I am rewinding my observation in the leather goods/accessories manufacturing sector had insisted in bringing the glue reduction in consumption on the production process, if it is strictly implemented & the result will be 10% direct increase in productivity along with the massive improvement on Quality aspects.

If this process control of glue application is stream lined the following pin points will be saved which result in good productivity & good quality.

 1. Glue Application  -  Process: 

2 mm on edges where the attachment is required for wallets & for bags 4 mm on edges where the attachment is required; and for the bags I am suggesting/recommending catch the adjoining adjacent components with center & other marking (notches) will reduce the glue consumption & will eliminate the bad inventory of glue cleaning by adopting man power in the name of cleaning section before final inspection.

Always go for approving set up of approvals minimum 5 pcs in all operations of sequences in proceeding the production process will give result in reducing the re-work & re-production below 0% to 3% maximum which will reciprocally reflect in all aspects of manufacturing especially Cost saving with Right Product, Right Quality, Right Cost, Right Time i.e., On-Time Delivery which will boost the Customer Satisfaction.

Recommendation of water-base glue will be for the requirement of vast areas in the components which will be under full pasting & for the application of full gluing for small components can be placed one by one on a board for the operation to carry out.

Proper educating & training along with Visual display of the components with glue application will add up value to the product ^ will have the good impact on the product as well as glue consumption controlled with saving.

Usage of self adhesive tapes of different width - single side/double side can also adds up value in eliminating the glue spread over/cleaning. 

The issues of glue or hot melt or water-base glue or other etc. should be as the norms set by New Product Development.

 2. Glue  -  Material: 

This is to be identified by the New Product Development while making samples; which part needs the which type of glues/self adhesive tapes & the same will be determined by going for further proceedings. The New Product Development will also determine the glue/self adhesive consumption for the particular article along the types of utensils applicable for the utilization of glue application by the application procedure ie., SOP - Standardization Of Operating Procedure with Do's & Don'ts by the way presenting the Visual Display System, so that it will bring disciplinary culture among the process owners by making them understand that how the process should be carried out.

 3. Glue pasting  -  Man power: 

Glue pasting to be carried out by the process of SOP's - Standardization of Operating Procedures which had been Visually displayed for carrying out the process & insisting that Set-up of approvals - 5 pcs should be get for all applications before starting the lots which is MANDATORY, will eliminate the RRP - Re-production/Re-work to 0% by adding value to the product. Suggesting that always promote & implement the systematic process of "SPOT CLEANING" once the operation gets over & also before handing/moving over to the next process will leads to eliminate the cleaning process/separate section before Final inspection.

In case of facing any issues in glue pasting/application call on the chemical glue vendors technical experts immediately in eliminating the quality issues & also get educating/training system from them.

 4. Cleaning   -  Man power: 

The man power is not required for cleaning the products before final inspection if the systematic process of "SPOT CLEANING", once the operation gets over & also before handing/moving over to the next process will leads to eliminate the cleaning process before Final inspection & where the glue cleaning by running a separate section is considered to be a bad inventory for a manufacturing Organization. 

 5. Reduction in Consumption  -  Others:  

Time, Material, Manpower, cost saving will be resulted in following the above said points for glues/self adhesive tapes/applications.

 6. Resulting in  -  a. massive improvement in Quality b. increase in productivity

 7. Quality Assurance  -  First Time Acceptance (FTA) without any deviation.

 SPECIAL NOTE:

The production TEAM as well as NPD (New Product Development) & Quality should function together in implementing the "PROJECT OF GLUE ELIMINATION" & I strongly believe/TRUST that the TEAM will "MAKE IT HAPPEN" & it is good both for Organization/for keeping Customer satisfaction & hold.

SPOT CLEANING will be applicable for all stages on all product sequences & recommended strongly for boosting the quality of the product with productivity & should be implemented/insisted until the process owners understandin building the culture of good habit in making the quality product.
