GloW Hosted Dr Jie Cai, Editor-in-Chief for The Lancet Regional Health – Western Pacific

An international platform for transdisciplinary endeavours to address major health concerns over a woman’s lifespan.
On 14 July 2023, the Global Centre for Asian Women’s Health (GloW) hosted a meet-and-greet session with Dr Jie Cai, Editor-in-Chief for The Lancet Regional Health – Western Pacific. The visit enabled a discussion of women’s health research in general and in Asia, a primary focus of GloW and of particular interest for The Lancet Regional Health – Western Pacific, as well as an exploration of potential collaborations.
The session was welcomed virtually by Prof Cuilin Zhang (Director of GloW), hosted in-person by Assistant Professor Ling-Jun Li, (Assistant Director of GloW) and GloW’s core team members. Dr Li gave an introduction of GloW’s founding story, overall vision and missions, and the GloW’s main research themes, which was followed by the sharing of cross-cutting themes by the GloW’s working group leads.
Dr Cai expressed that recently, The Lancet Regional Health—Western Pacific has growing interest in women’s health, particularly those related to mental health, bone health, lifestyle, and ethnic variations in non-communicable diseases.?Furthermore, both the GloW and Dr Cai expressed their intentions in joining forces, to empower Asian women and advocate for Asian women’s health.
This meeting fostered a deeper understanding of GloW’s work and the scope of The Lancet Regional Health – Western Pacific, and helped to establish a rapport for future collaborations between the two organizations.
