Glodon Building Awarded Prestigious LEED Gold Certification
The Glodon Xi'an Digital Building Product R&D and Industrialization Base, commonly referred to as Glodon Xi'an R&D Center, has recently been awarded the LEED BD+C NC V4 Gold certification. Awarded by the U.S. Green Buildings Council (USGBC), the certification underscores the significant strides Glodon has made in advancing green and healthy buildings through digital innovation.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the world's most widely used green building rating system. LEED certification provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings, which offer environmental, social and governance (ESG) benefits.
As of August 2024, a total of 2,796 projects in mainland China have received LEED Gold certification for new construction (NC). The Glodon Xi'an R&D Center building, with a registered area of 67,669 square meters, falls within the office building category. Among gold-certified projects, it ranks 33rd in China and 2nd in the Northwest region. Notably, within the office building category, it is ranked 2nd in China and 1st in the Northwest, making it the largest LEED NC V4 Gold-certified project by area in the region.
Leveraging digital construction concepts and methods, the Glodon Xi'an R&D Center building has successfully integrated green, energy-efficient, healthy, and intelligent features into its design and construction, establishing itself as a cutting-edge digital R&D facility.

The building boasts an impressive 46% of its site area dedicated to outdoor open spaces, with 85% of these spaces covered by vegetation, providing employees with exceptional outdoor recreational areas. To further mitigate the urban heat island effect, the building features green roofs.
In terms of land use efficiency, the building's 100% underground parking garage minimizes land occupation and waste, exceeding LEED's baseline parking requirement by 40%. Additionally, the inclusion of numerous charging stations promotes energy-efficient parking and supports green commuting options.
On the low-carbon front, the building is strategically located in a densely developed area with diverse supporting facilities and convenient access to public transportation, including nearby subway and bus stations. This ease of access reduces commuting-related carbon emissions while enhancing employee well-being. The building is also equipped with mercury-free LED lighting, laying a solid foundation for sustainable, low-carbon operations.
Water conservation is another highlight. The building uses 100% recycled water for indoor applications such as irrigation, road cleaning, and toilet flushing, and equips with high-efficiency sanitary fixtures, achieving a 44.5% reduction in water usage. The outdoor area also features a water storage system that contributes to a 61% reduction in water use. Additionally, the building utilizes eco-friendly refrigerants to minimize or eliminate the emission of compounds that contribute to ozone depletion and climate change.
Industrialization, greening, and digitalization are key trends in the development of the construction industry. The realization of industrialization and greening is dependent on digitalization. Glodon Xi'an R&D Center building, embodying the Digital Building concept and integrating digital processes throughout the construction lifecycle, demonstrates that digitalization is a powerful driver of green development in the construction industry. This certification reinforces the role of digitalization in supporting the creation of more human-centered, green, and healthy buildings.
