1.? Hong Kong SAR Government announced on May 17 that its newly expanded Talent List increases the coverage from 13 professions to 51. The expanded list immediately applies to the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, the General Employment Policy and the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents & Professionals.
2.? Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) releases details of the newly launched Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS). From September 1, EP candidates must pass a two-stage eligibility framework. COMPASS greatly improves the transparency and provides confidence for employers. As for EP candidates, competition may get more heated with the point-based system.
3.? Japanese government announced an action plan towards the establishment of world-class new residency qualification systems (Japan System for Special Highly-Skilled Professionals (J-Skip), Japan System for Future Creation Individual Visa (J-Find)), examination of Technical Intern Training System and Specified Skills System, promotion of the Global Startup Campus concept, and consideration for a system accepting “digital nomads”
4.? The Legislative Assembly of the Macao Special Administrative Region held a plenary session on May 18 to discuss and vote on the details of the bill on the Legal Framework for the Admission of Talents. The law will take effect from July 1, 2023. The SAR Government will announce the details of the various talent introduction programs and the opening date of the "Talent Introduction Program Electronic Application Platform".
5.? According to the 2023 Investment Migration Executives Survey by IMI? , Dominica CIU was the Most Efficient Processing Unit in 2022, while Portugal's SEF failed to catch up due to severe backlog.
